    sidewalk robbery

today i left my apartment once to go to the bank. it was 4:50pm. the walk takes about 4 minutes down a busy street full of shops and sidewalk traffic. i'm use to this walk. i could walk it blind folded. as i passed Melrose Diner I was gaining on hipster kid that seemed to mosey along in the direction i was headed. in front of the hipster, moving equally as slow, was a short old lady with a fur coat and matching hat. at my faster pace, i passed the two on the right.

as passed the old lady i heard a commotion. i turn around to see the old lady and the hipster laying on the sidewalk. at first i thought they had tripped over each other. just as i had that thought, the hipster got up and ran off with the old lady's purse in hand. i was about to run after the kid but the lady was moaning in pain. i stayed with her. her face showed that she was in shock and that her arm hurt rather bad. a clerk at the chiropractor office stepped out to see what was happening. i told him, "this lady has just been robbed, call the police."

luckily, a man down the street witnessed the whole situation and caught the kid with the purse. the police showed up within 2 minutes. we moved the lady into the chiropractor's office. i gave the officers the description of what happened. i met the guy that tackled the kid. he said, "i was just on my way to ruby practice."

i've been apart of this neighborhood for almost 6 years. never have i witnessed crime, let alone, idiotic crime.

i was just on my way to the bank.

    richer colors in Firefox

As a photographer/cinematographer I've had one annoying issue with using Firefox to surf the net.   Firefox desaturates colors.  And not just a little.

For example:  I use Photoshop to saturate a photo I've taken and then upload it to a photo-sharing website like Flicker or Facebook.  After my photo uploads I find that the work I put into the photo doesn't show up in Firefox (I can't see the pretty colors and any one else using Firefox can't see the pretty colors).

This issue is just as annoying as the wide-screen vs. full-screen issue I have with DVDs.  How do you feel about your art after someone else has chopped it up and changed the colors on you?

There is a option in Firefox to allow the colors to be truly represented.  However, it is sad that it is not the default option.  Follow the directions here to display the true colors in Firefox.

    picking up

i'm feeling overwhelmed with the amount of things on my "to-do" list.

i have several clients to meet with in the next week.  at some point i need to straighten out my taxes.

    much too much.

    could this be the beginning

i feel the whispers of a failing economy like the breath of a lover behind my ear.

    winter behind

looks like I'll be the DP for Del Harvey's latest film.  I'm excited to DP a narrative again.  it's been awhile.  the commercial world has kept me busy.

i've been approached to be the DP on a documentary project shooting in Olympic National Park in Washington State.  more details to come.

    since they've been gone

temperature has dropped. work has slowed down. holidays are near.

i love working on documentaries. the best way to learn about a subject is to immerse yourself in it. i've been shooting for documentary filmmaker Ronit Bezalel since the 1st of November. Ronit is actively updating her 1999 film Voices of Cabrini. here is a trailer to the original version:

    we can two

Our sixth day in new land. Peru land. Happy lovely green land. Land of many insects.

Lima, as in all my dreams, was a romantic dream come true. even during moments of belly sickness along the Atlantic.

After three short days and nights in the capital, Wendy and I joined a new group of volunteers bound for Yantalo. Internet access has been rare so I'll just share these photos from our first two days in Yantalo.
